Jack Donald Samuels, 74, Monroe, Mich., formerly of Harlan County, died March 15, 2005, at Mercy Memorial Nursing Home.

He was born March 3, 1931, in Harlan. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean war.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy Samuels and Rita Middleton Samuels; three brothers: Verl Samuels, Guy Samuels and Bruce Samuels; four sisters: Edith Owens, Gladys Gaw, Geneva Crowe and Mary Jewell Howard.

Survivors include four children: the Rev. Michael Samuels and wife, Cindy, Weedowe, Ala.; Jeffrey Samuels, Monroe, Mich.; Sandra Reno and husband, Mark, Temperance, Mich.; and Jack Samuels Jr., Weedowe, Ala.; one brother, the Rev. Frank Samuels and wife, Frances, Godson, Ala.; one sister, Bonnie Rudd and husband, James, Middleton, ohio; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Michael Pawlak Funeral Home in Temperance, Mich.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Donald Brown officiating.

Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
