A Letcher County man is in custody after a police tip led to the discovery of a quarter ounce of cocaine.
James A. Huff, 24, of Letcher, was arrested Friday afternoon by officers with the Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement.
During the investigation, officer Ken Hightower discovered a white powder inside a cigarette box.
"We field tested (the substance)," Hightower said. "It was in fact cocaine."
Hightower and KVE officer Rocky Johnson arrested Huff.
The .25 ounce stash of cocaine had a street value of about $400, Hightower said.
Along with the cocaine, police also discovered a small amount of marijuana in Huff's possession.
Following his arrest and after he had been informed of his rights, Huff said the baking soda in his pocket could be used for "making crack," Johnson said.
Huff faces charges of driving under the influence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
This is the second cocaine related arrest in Harlan County in two days.
Lloyd L. Muncie, 56, of Wallins, and 36-year-old Elizabeth Beltcher, of Bledsoe, were arrested Wednesday after police recovered 10 small bags of cocaine and several prescription drugs from a car in which the pair was driving.
