The Rev. Burchess Back, 66, died May 16, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

He was a retired coal miner and retired mechanic. He was a member of the Way of the Cross Church at Cumberland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Fannie Cornett Back; a brother, Jerry Back; and a sister, Mary Back.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Caudille Back, Cumberland; 10 children: Doyle Back, Lexington; Tena Back Smith, Blair; Wayne Back, Partridge;' Sarah Kelly, Cumberland; Louann Foutch, Baltimore; Verla Lynn Lewis, Benham; Roger Morris, Cumberland; Carolyn Spencer, Cumberland; Olene Ingram, Cumberland; and Delane Morris, Indiana; 39 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; two special grandchildren, Betty Russell and Terry Ingram; two special great-grandchildren, Erica and Kayla Ingram; five brothers: Roger Back, Illinois; Benny Back, Evarts; Noah Back, Indiana; Rodney Back, Indiana; and James Back, Owensboro; and three sisters: Alta Turner, Gilley; Carolyn Gedemer, North Carolina; and Sharon Morris, Indiana.

Visitation was Tuesday at Tri-City Funeral Home and will also be after 11 a.m. today at the Way of the Cross Church on Moore Street in the Clutts section of Cumberland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today with the Rev. Johnny Sizemore officiating at the Way of the Cross Church.

Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery at Cumberland.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
