William Alred, 31, of Wallins, was arrested March 31 on four counts of theft by unlawful taking, trafficking a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and public intoxication.
On April 8, while incarcerated, Alred had been complaining of feeling sick. When officers entered his cell, Alred allegedly attacked.
During the incident, three officers were injured. Sgt. James Deal suffered an injury to his ribs and was treated at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Lt. Anthony Noble was kicked several times and Capt. Lura Adams was kicked by Alred once.
Alred was indicted by a Harlan County grand jury and indicted with three counts of third-degree assault on a corrections officer.
In other recent arrests:
n Obie Baker, 58, of Cawood, was charged with two counts of second-degree attempted assault, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, failure to wear seat belts, menacing, no horn, no insurance, no registration receipt, no registration plate, no tail light and operating on a suspended license.
n John L. Allen, 34, of Cawood, was charged with four counts of failure to appear. A $3,000 full-cash bond was set.
n Dennis Wayne Branim, 39, of Evarts, was charged with alcohol intoxication, failure to pay fines and first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia. No bond was set.
n Tommy Chasteen, 47, of Putney, was charged with alcohol intoxication and possession of an open alcohol container in public. Bond was set at $1,000.
n Rosa Lee Daniels, 31, of Pathfork, was arrested by order of the district court. No bond was set.
n Charlene Harris, 32, of Baxter, was charged with fourth-degree assault. The charges were dismissed.
n Ryan Kevin Harris, 28, of Harlan, was charged with fourth-degree assault. The charges were dismissed.
n Brandon S. Lewis, 26, of Cumberland, was charged with driving under the influence, not wearing a seat belt, no turn signal and rear license not illuminated. Bond was set at $6,400.
n Billy Black, 26, of Stanford, was charged with terroristic threatening. Bond was set at $20,000.
n Tommy Chasteen, 47, of Putney, was charged with alcohol intoxication and open container of alcohol. No bond was issued.
n Jessica N. Crider, 23, of Baxter, was charged with theft by unlawful taking. Bond was set at $30,000.
n Fred Hensley, 54, of Baxter, was charged with theft by unlawful taking. Bond was set at $30,000.
n Brandon S. Lewis, 26, of Cumberland, was charged with driving under the influence, no seat belt, no turn signal and rear license not illuminated. A fine was paid and he was released.
n Cody Levi Wynn, 19, of Kenvir, was charged with first-degree burglary. Bond was set at $15,000.
