He was a retired carpenter and construction worker. He believed in the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oakley Burnette Sr. and Bonnie Burnette; two sons: Danny Wayne Burnette and Junior Eugene Burnette; and one brother, James Burnette.

Survivors include two daughters: Mary McDonald, Big Stone Gap, Va.; and Penny Bailey, Rutledge, Tenn.; four sisters: Billie Brock and husband, Gene; Willie Mae Burnette; Brenda Lunsford and husband, Danny; and Mary Burnette; two special friends: Jack Vanover and William Wilder; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.

Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Sanctuary of Province Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Branson officiating.

Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.
