Two arrested on drug charges in traffic stop along U.S. 119

A Flat Gap man and an Eolia woman were arrested, charged and released Tuesday after troopers from Post 10 and Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement East conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 119 at Coldiron.
Larry W. Sergent, 50, and Felicia Ann Sergent, 28, had several charges brought against them.
Larry Sergent was charged with failure to notify address change to the Kentucky Department of Transportation, speeding (five miles per hour over the limit), second-degree trafficking a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, controlled substance not in original container (first offense) and failure to produce insurance card.
Felicia Sergent was charged with third-degree trafficking a controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in original container (first offense).
The two were stopped on U.S. 119 for speeding.
According to a police report, during a search of the vehicle, 15 Xanax pills were discovered, along with 16 Methadose wafers, seven Lortab pills and $3,000 in cash. The large sum of money was found in Larry Sergent's possession.
The Sergents were lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
The case is still under investigation by KSP trooper Van Wright and trooper Jason Young of Post 10, Harlan. Assisting was Sgt. Allen Layne of Kentucky State Police DESI.
