She was born April 5, 1921, in Perry County. She was a retired cook, having been employed by Cawood Elementary School. She was also a member of the Grays Knob Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.B. and Una Day; husband, Albert L. Day; a son, James R. Day and wife, Eloise; a daughter, Alberta J. Fields; three sisters: Juanita Irvin, Ruby Smith and Wilma King.

Survivors include a son, Fred J. Day Sr. and wife, Ann, of Virginia; a sister, Faye Noe and husband, Ulyess, of Ohio; 11 grandchildren: Annette Whitaker and husband, Richard, Cawood; Wesley Day and wife, Louise, Cawood; Katherine Karwejna, Louisville; Pamela Singleton and husband, Harry, Louisville; Jinger Gilbert, Georgia; Tammy Thomas and husband, Mike, Virginia; Fred J. Day Jr.; James Albert Day; William Roy Day; Travis Joab Day and Chandy Ann Day, all of Virginia; 10 great-grandchildren: Sabrina, Tabitha, Ben and Travis Day, all of Cawood; David and Kevin Gilbert, Georgia; Amy and Kyle Lieber, Louisville; and Matthew and John Singleton, Louisville; two great-great-grandchildren, James Nicholas Day and Matthew Derrick Day.

Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. James Willard Pope and the Rev. Randy Hoskins officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pope Cemetery at Cawood.

Pallbearers will be Richard Whitaker, Wesley Day, Benjamin Day, Travis Day, Rick Fields and Derrick Davis.

Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
