The Cumberland Lady Skins had plenty of experienced help in winning their first district volleyball championship, but perhaps no one was more valuable or versatile than Amber Maggard.

The senior, one of six who started for the Lady Skins, earned player of the year honors to head the Enterprise's annual all-county volleyball team as selected by the Enterprise sports staff.

With deadly accurate serves and intimidating net play, Maggard was a threat from virtually any spot on the floor as she led the Lady Skins to the 50th District title, earning district tournament MVP honors in the process.

Maggard is joined on the all-county first team by one of her teammates, senior Deavin Stewart.

Like Maggard, Stewart has been a key component of the Lady Skins' success over the past three seasons. She is perhaps best known for her setting abilities but also proved to be a strong server.

Evarts is represented by two players on the first team as well: seniors Tiffany Jones and Amy Baird.

Jones provided a strong net presence and fierce competitive spirit for the Lady Cats. Baird was one of the county's top servers throughout her career.

Senior Holly Pennington is Harlan's representative on the squad. Pennington was also one of the county's most versatile players, although she was probably best known for her serving abilities.

Rounding out the first team is Cawood's Charlene Drew. The senior provided solid net play and leadership for the Trojanettes.

Three Cumberland players were named to the second team.

Senior Megan Hall was one of the county's most intimidating net players. She is joined on the second team by senior teammates Ashley Fields and Tiffany Eldridge. In her first year as a full-time starter, Fields developed into one of the county's best servers, while Eldridge provided the Lady Skins with another strong presence at the net.

Evarts' Jacqui Bennett and Heather Kelly were also named to the second team. Bennett, a senior, was one of the Lady Cats' top net players during their district runner-up finish. Kelly, a sophomore, proved to be a strong presence for Evarts and should be one of the team's leaders next season.

Harlan's Holly Johnson rounds out the second team. Johnson, a senior, developed into a strong net presence for the Lady Dragons.
