Angel tree keeps growing

Last year, Farris Russell, a young girl from Crooked Creek, Ga., wanted a pony for Christmas.

For one reason or another, that didn't happen. The result, however, was hundreds of toys delivered to Harlan County this holiday season as part of the Angel Tree program.

"When I asked her what she wanted for Christmas last year, my little granddaughter said a pony," said Ed Ginter, who made the trip Thursday all the way from Georgia to bring toys and clothes to the Harlan Countians For A Healthy Community organization. The group is heading up the Harlan Angel Tree project, which has distributed gifts to over 500 children for the past three Christmases.

"When I asked her what was second on her wish list," Ginter continued, "she thought for a moment and then said,
