James Edward Combs, 89, Hindman, died Dec. 19, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired Kentucky State Police officer. He was a graduate of the first class of KSP troopers.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Inmon Combs; and children: Bill Combs and wife, Charleen, Harlan; and Mrs. Bryan (Mary) Hester, Lexington.

Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Compton Cemetery.

Hindman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
