Viola Mason Gayle, 81, Lynch, died Dec. 25, 2005, at Harlan ARH Hospital.

A native of Illinois, Gayle was a member of the Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church and believed in the Baptist faith. She worked in the dry cleaning industry as a presser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Birdia and Taylor Hooks; a daughter, Shirley; a sister, Martha Joe; two brothers: Lavern and Taylor Hooks Jr.; and a grandson, Gordie Wright.

Survivors include two daughters: Audrey Jean Wright and Brenda Joyce Carrol, both of Chicago; a son, Charles Hill, Dayton, Ohio; three sisters: Naomi Mason and Grace Robinson, both of Chicago; and Rosa Moxley, Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren: McNeely Williams and Charles Edward Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held today at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church at 10 a.m.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating.

Burial will follow in Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Hiram.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
