Senior Jayme Gilbert fired a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and three walks Monday to lead the Lady Tigers to a five-inning win over Evarts.
For the second straight game, the Lady Cats struggled in the field, committing nine errors to bring their two-game total to 17.
“Our pitching has improved - we've only had 12 walks in two games,” Evarts coach Robert Amundsen said. “But the error bug is killing us. If we can quit making errors, we might be decent.”
Senior Kristin Cornett (0-2) took the loss for Evarts, surrendering five hits while striking out four and walking seven.
Cornett led the Lady Cats at the plate with a double and two RBI. Kristin Jackson and Amanda Juarez each singled.
Evarts (0-2) will play host to Leslie County on Thursday.
