A native of Verda, he had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Evarts High School and a deacon at the Church of the Living God at Jones Creek. In addition to Kentucky Darby LLC Mine, he had previously been employed by Manalapan Coal Co. and several other coal companies in Harlan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rosa and Jake Profitt; and Dorothy and Bill Middleton.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Mary Lynn Wynn Middleton, Jones Creek; his parents, Nellie Profitt Middleton and Dan Middleton, Jones Creek; two daughters: Danielle Middleton and Natalie Middleton; three sisters: Donna Stewart and husband, Teddy, Jones Creek; Lynn Helton and husband, David, Jones Creek; and Rosa “P-nut” Brock and husband, Johnny, Jones Creek; his mother-in-law, Betty Jo Wynn, Jones Creek; three aunts: Ivajean Burkhart; Diane Profitt; and Lois Pittman and husband, Danny; a host of nieces and nephews: D.J. Helton, Kevin Burkhart, Rebekah Stewart Short, Adam Helton, Angel Helton, Kaitlyn Helton, Bethany Baird, a great-niece, Amillia Burkhart; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home and Wednesday after 4 p.m. at the Church of the Living God at Jones Creek.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Sonny Dean and the Rev. Doug Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
