A native of Harlan, she had lived here all of her life. She was a faithful member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Evarts Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Press Thomas; her parents, Mary Trent Thomas and Silas Ball; four children: Oscar Thomas, Grace Gilliam, Kathleen Miller and Burley Thomas; her son-in-law, Ott Wynn; three sisters; six brothers; and her great-grandson, Ronnie Wynn.
Survivors include three children: Howard Thomas and wife, Faye, Dayton, Ohio; Mary Woodward and her husband, Clint, Jackson County; and Irene Wynn, Kenvir; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Monday at the Locust Grove Baptist Church at Dizney.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Gerald Jones and Chris Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Heritage Hospice.
