A native of Appalachia, Va., Gray lived most of her life in Harlan County. She was a homemaker and housewife. She believed in the Church of God faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Martha Franks; one daughter, Victoria Gray Ward; three brothers: Clifton Franks, Denise Franks and Johnny Franks; and one sister, Nancy Maggard.
Survivors include eight children: Herman Smith and wife, Helen, and a special granddaughter, Faith Joseph, Sunshine; Charolette Martin and husband, Freddy, Lee County, Va.; Roscoe Gray and wife, Judy, Leatherwood; Paul Jr. Gray and wife, Martha, Kingsport, Tenn.; Kathy Osborne and husband, Homer, Baxter; Mark Gray and wife, Sevena, Keith; Oakley Gray and wife, Mary, Harlan Gas; and Matthew Gray and wife, Crystal, Sunshine; four brothers and sisters: Lonzo Franks, Leslie County; Paul David Franks, Indianapolis, Ind.; Mary Sizemore, Sunshine; and Steve Franks, Sunshine; 28 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; special friends: Evelyn Galloway and Dr. Jose Echeverria; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at noon at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Carmen Lewis and the Rev. Billy Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery in Leslie County.
Boyd North, William Gray, James Barrett, Christopher Wilson, Brian Brock, Michael Isom and Johnny Gary will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
