Edith Cornett Bowman, 80, Lancaster, formerly of Watts Creek, died Feb. 26, 2007, at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster.

A native of Harlan County, she was a homemaker and believed in the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bowman; her parents, Sylvan Cornett and Mary Muncy Cornett; a daughter, Brenda Faye Gambrel; three brothers: Dillard Cornett, Melvin Cornett and Will Cornett; two sisters: Elsie Cornett Long and Anna Cornett Thomas; and one grandchild, Robert Gambrel.

Survivors include six children: Patricia Gambrel Baker, Gulinda Gambrel Wine and Joyce Gambrel Robbins, all of Lancaster; Bobby Gambrel, Paint Lick; James Gambrel, Berea; and Walter Lee Cornett, Lancaster; one brother, Earl Cornett, Watts Creek; three sisters: Kathleen Cornett Simpson and Martha Cornett Smallwood, both of Watts Creek; and Una Cornett Vaughn, Chester, Va.; 22 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. at Loyall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Simpson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cornett Family Cemetery at Watts Creek.

Loyall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
