Ted Roberts, 80, of Lynch entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

He was a native of Norton, VA and had lived in Lynch for the last 60 years. He was a devoted husband and family man; a faithful member of Central Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he played bass guitar.

He was a retired coal miner having over 30 years service with U.S. Steel Corporation as a foreman and former member of the UMWA Local 7425.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Trig Roberts and Susan Carter Roberts Dean; three brothers, Woodrow Roberts, Earlie Roberts, and Henry "Hop" Roberts; and five sisters, Buleah Gardner, Edith Roberts, Cossie Roberts, Pearlie Dean and Irene Smith.

Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Bernice Hensley Roberts; three children, Gerald Roberts and wife, Regina, Lynch; Michael Roberts and wife, Brenda, Hiram; and Deborah "Debbie" Creech and husband, Wayne, Cumberland; two granddaughters, Tracy Bailey and husband, Scott and Christie Fields and husband, John, all of Lynch; one grandson, Jeremy Creech, Cumberland; two great-grandchildren, Nikki Adams and husband, Keith, Dione and Scotty Bailey, Lynch; and one great-great grandchild, Landen Adams, Dione; three brothers, Harles Roberts, Frederick Dean and Hagan Dean all of Wise County VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Cumberland. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Bruce Walzer and Rev. Mike Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Creech Maggard Cemetery in Cumberland.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
