A verbal dispute following funeral services for Anthony Latham at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on Friday spilled out onto Cumberland Avenue just before noon.

Harlan City Police officer George Young was near the funeral home when the disturbance occurred. Young immediately radioed for assistance. The disturbance drew law enforcement officials from the Harlan Police Department and Harlan County Sheriff's Office.

Felicia Hopkins, 31, of Harlan, was arrested outside the funeral home and later charged with first-degree disorderly conduct.

According to the police citation prepared by Harlan County Sheriff's deputy Silas Whitehead, Hopkins was one of about 20 people standing outside the funeral home screaming and cursing. Whitehead stated that he advised Hopkins several times to be quiet and to get in her car. Hopkins continued to scream and curse, causing a disturbance. She was placed under arrest.

It was reported that Young responded to complaints at the funeral home several times Thursday evening during Latham's visitation.

Another woman, Rosie Blevins, of Harlan, collapsed inside the funeral home and was transported to the Harlan ARH Hospital. Her condition was unknown at presstime.
