Alvis "Bud" Fox, 83, of Chevrolet, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Kelly Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Marie Fox; parents: C.P. and Ada Fox; four sisters: Mae Yost, Edith Lucas, Mable Hubbs and Virginia Shaw; and sons-in-law: Paul Tyree and James Swanson.

Survivors include eight children: Ann Walker and husband, Paul, of Tremont; David Fox and wife, Patsy, of Chevrolet; Paul Fox, of Chevrolet; Jean Brewer and husband, John, of Mary Alice; Helen Carter and husband, Euel, of Cawood; Doug Fox and wife, Irene, of Keith; Lou Day and husband, Wes, of Cawood; and Jody Swanson, of Cawood; 13 grandchildren: Daniel Walker and wife, Annette, of Cranks; Tammy Saylor and husband, Greg, of Coldiron; Crystal Lewis and husband, Chris, of Knoxville, Tenn.; April Fee and husband, David, of Johnson City, Tenn.; Kelly Cornett and husband, Bobby, of Watts Creek; Stephine Lasley and husband, Douglas, of Harlan; Daisy and Amy Swanson, of Cawood; Sabrina, Ben and Travis Day, of Cawood; Chandra Blevins and husband, David, of Coalgood; Tabitha Davis and husband, Derrick, of Cawood; 14 great- grandchildren: D.J., Taylor and Hannah Walker, Latasha and Kaleb Saylor, Abigail Lucille Rose Fee, Kaytlin and Ethan Cornett, Nick Day, Hunter, Connor and Morgan Blevins, Carter Lasley, and Matthew Davis; two step-grandchildren: Kimberly and Joshua Jones; three sisters: Nannie Engle, of Lenarue; Sylvia Patterson, of Corbin; and Lucille Carter of Knox County; And several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at 1 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Craig Sr. and the Rev. Eddie Huckleby officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery of Keith.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 from 6 to 9 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Sons-in-laws and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
