Edna Linnen Parker, age 95 of Mendota (VA), formerly of Lynch, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, 2007, while at the Wellmont Bristol Hospice House.

She was born April 25, 1912, a daughter of the late John and Emma Shepherd Linnen. She was a homemaker and member of the Mendota United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Rufus "Rufe" Parker who was a longtime bookkeeper for U.S. Steel at Lynch for many years; three brothers: Harold, William "Bill" and Jack Linnen.

She is survived by her "adopted daughters": Shirley Hunt and husband, Tommy, of Nashville, TN; Pam Rodgers and husband, Lewis, of Knoxville, TN; "adopted grandchildren" Jason Grady and Catherine Grady of Knoxville, TN; "adopted sister" Gwen Broyles also of Knoxville, TN; two nephews: John Linnen and Kenneth Linnen both of Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by many friends in the Mendota community, including special friends: Martha Richardson, who was also her caregiver, and Ginny Marrs.

Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2007 from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Mendota United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Bill Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mendota Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
