A one-vehicle crash Thursday on U.S. 421 near the Virginia line left a man with multiple injuries.

Kentucky State Police trooper Walt Szczepan said Charles Brummett, 53, of Pennington Gap, Va., was traveling south in a Saturn and reportedly lost control after rounding a curve. The Saturn crossed the northbound lane and overturned off the shoulder into a ravine.

The Harlan County Rescue Squad was dispatched to the scene after Brummett was reported to be trapped. The crash was approximately half a mile from the Virginia line.

Brummett was removed from the crashed vehicle by emergency personnel. He was transported by LifeCare Ambulance Service to Harlan ARH Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
