Investigation under way in WTUK theft

Police are investigating a burglary at WTUK Radio Station, where several items were stolen.

Harlan City Police Sgt. Mike Thomas is investigating the burglary that occurred Sunday night.

Thomas said the unknown intruders entered the building located on Main Street by forcing open a window. He said a couple of the offices had been rummaged through and some of the doors sustained damage, as well as office equipment.

Thomas said some of the items taken included a personal laptop computer, a flat panel monitor to a desktop computer, an iPod, a digital voice recorder, many vintage concert and sports posters and other various items.

One of the station's officials is offering a reward regarding the incident. For information on the reward, contact Jeff Capps at 573-1470.

Thomas said anyone with any information regarding the theft can contact him at 573-1121.

In other police news:

-- Randy Blair, 42, was arrested by Kentucky State Police trooper Marcus Williams on charges of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and theft by deception under $300 on two warrants.

Blair was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.

-- Blanche Ealy, 37, was arrested on warrant by Constable Robert Haywood on a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Haywood was assisted in the arrest by Constable Joe Howard.

Ealy was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond set at 10 percent of $5,000.

-- Billy Ray Shipman, 32, was arrested by KSP trooper Bryan Johnson on a charge of violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.

Shipman was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center without bond.
