Brackets and schedules have been released for the county girls middle school basketball tournaments.
The fifth- and sixth-grade tournament, hosted by Black Mountain, will begin Friday with a play-in game between No. 9 Green Hills and No. 8 Evarts. The game will be played at Black Mountain at 5:30 p.m.
The first round of the tournament will be held Saturday at Black Mountain. Top-seeded Cawood will take on the winner of the play-in game at 11 a.m. No. 4 Harlan and No. 5 Cumberland will square off at 12:30 p.m., followed by No. 3 Black Mountain and No. 6 Wallins at 2. No. 2 Rosspoint and No. 7 Hall will close the day's slate at 3:30.
Black Mountain and Rosspoint tied for the No. 2 seed. The tie was decided by a coin toss.
Semifinals will be held Monday at Evarts High School at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The consolation will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Evarts High School, followed by the championship at 7.
The seventh- and eighth-grade tournament will begin on Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Rosspoint with a play-in game between No. 9 Hall and No. 8 Green Hills.
The remainder of the tournament will be held at Cawood High School, beginning with the first round Saturday. Top-seeded Rosspoint will face the play-in winner at 10 a.m., followed by No. 4 Harlan and No. 5 Cumberland at 11:30. No. 3 Cawood and No. 6 Wallins will play at 1 p.m., followed by No. 2 Black Mountain and No. 7 Evarts at 2:30.
The semifinals will be held Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and 8:30. The tournament will conclude Oct. 30 with the consolation game at 7 p.m. and the championship at 8:30.
