Joyce Creech Shelby, 64, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at her residence following a long illness.

Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of Harlan County. She was a loving wife and mother. She believed in the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Edith Coots Creech; a sister, Janet Murray; and three brothers, Tim Creech, Dickie Creech, and Raymond Creech.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Shelby, Cumberland; two daughters, Tammy (Golden) Brashears, Totz and Melinda (Tim) Eldridge, Cumberland; seven brothers, Rodney (Karen) Creech, Stanford; Ed (Carol) Creech, Lebanon; Don (Donna) Creech, Richmond, VA; Bill (Dorabelle) Creech, Northpekin, IL; Larry (Betty) Creech, Butler; Jack (Wilma) Creech, Northpekin, IL; and Vernon (Roxanne) Creech, VA; four sisters, Kathy (Roger) Pyles, Baxter; Becky (Harvey) Thomas, Harlan; Peggy Curry, Corbin; and Brenda (Curt) Baker, Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren, Ben Brashears, Chris Brashears, Tiffany Brashears, Derrick Eldridge and Ashley Eldridge; and three great-grandchildren, Doug Brashears, Zeke Brashears, and Halie Brashears.

Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at Tri-City Funeral Home in Benham.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 in the chapel of Tri-City Funeral Home with Rev Patrick Shepherd officiating.

Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland.

Tim Eldridge, Golden Brashears, Brandon Wilson, Ben Brashears, Chris Brashears, Terry Allen Thompkins, and Derrick Eldridge will serve as pallbearers.
