She was born Aug. 28, 1909 in Corbin to the late George H. and Mossie Evans Wingfield.
A resident of Harlan since 1955, she was a member of the Harlan United Methodist Church. Most recently, she had been a resident of Tri-State Health and Rehab in Harrogate, Tenn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie E. Carroll; and by seven sisters: Pearl Dunlap, Thelma Fuson, Zelma Hunt, Martha Hurst, Edna Warpup and Irene Wingfield; and two brothers: Francis Scott Wingfield and Jerome Wingfield.
Survivors include three sons: Robert R. Carroll and wife, Janet, of Loudon, Tenn.; H. Winston Carroll and wife, Susan, of Pineville; and Phillip E. Carroll, of The Villages, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Kim Johnson and husband, Mark and daughter Olivia; David Carroll and son, Tanner; Dr. William Carroll and wife, Cecelia and daughter Lily; Jon Carroll; Charles Carroll and wife, Laura; Roger Carroll and wife, Yeonie and daughter Leila; and Shelly Barrett and husband, James.
The family will be receiving friends Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at noon at Shumate Funeral Home, 2321 Cumberland Ave., Middlesboro, KY, with the Rev. James M. Bradshaw officiating.
The interment will be held at 2:30 Saturday, Jan. 12 at Resthaven Cemetery at Keith.
