Betty Jean was preceded in death by her father, Arthur F. Canady; a sister, Dorothy Wynn; two brothers, L.B. Canady and Bobby E. Canady; her mother-in-law, AnnaMae Penix; and her father-in-law, David E. Penix.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ovie Penix, Sr., Dizney; one daughter, Connie Penix Peace, Dizney; three sons, Ovie "Frosty" Penix, Jr. and his wife, Vickie, Ages; Bruce Penix of Dizney; and Roger Penix and wife, Lisa, Pounding Mill; seven grandchildren, April Bailey and husband, Jimmy, Jr., Dizney; David Penix of Kenvir; Kristalee, Kelsey and Kaylin Penix, all of Ages; Eli and Roger Penix, Jr., both of Pounding Mill. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Breana, Jillian, and Jimmy-Jayden Bailey, all of Dizney; her mother, Susie Hamblin Canady of Williamsburg; six sisters, Genevea Froedge of Indianapolis, IN; Gladys Rains of Maryville, TN; Wilma Gross and husband, Jerry; Wanda Barton and husband, Robert, all of London; Mary Ann Garrett and husband, Dale; Ruth Coffey and husband, Earl, all of Williamsburg; two brothers, Lloyd Canady and wife, Mickey, Williamsburg; Jackie Canady and wife, Carol, Indianapolis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday and Saturday from 5 until 9 pm at the Locust Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 10 am at the Church with the Rev. Gerald Jones and the Rev. Paul White officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
