Vickie Lynn Harriston Poteet, 52, of Harlan, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at her home following a brief illness. She was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist faith.

Vickie was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Mae Sanford-Robinson; her father, Louis Wright; a son, James Roger Harriston Martin; and two brothers, Ronnie and Marvin Harriston.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky W. Poteet, Harlan; three children, Charles Ray Harriston, Lexington; Yolanda Harriston and her boyfriend, Jerome Smith, Partridge; Robert Samuel Harriston Martin, Harlan; six brothers, James Gardner, Dayton, OH; Roy, Ralph and Richard Harriston, all of Richmond, VA; Eugeune Sanford, Detroit, MI; Adrian Sanford, Louisville; a step-brother, Joe Louis Robinson; and two step-sisters, Judy and Tonya Robinson, both of Harlan. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Gaven Smith, Alyssa, Jazlyne, Janah, Ai-Yana and Doniesha Harriston; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including two special cousins, Denise Sanford, Harlan; Ernest Fitzgerald III, Cumberland, and two special nephews, Eugene Sanford, Detroit, MI; and Adrian C. Sanford, Louisville.

Her wake will be held Friday from 6 until 9 pm at the First Baptist Church of Harlan on North Main Street.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 pm at the Church with the Rev. Darryl Washington officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements.
