Ann Veness Lawrence, 73, widow of the late Ralph Thomas Lawrence Sr. passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.

A native of Caister-on-Sea, England, she was the daughter of Lillian Veness Smith, of Caister-on-Sea, England and the late Frank Veness. She was a homemaker and a loving mother.

Additional survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer Lawrence and David Petroske, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Elizabeth Hatcher, of Crestview, Fla.; five sons and four daughters-in-law: Ralph and Nancy Lawrence Jr., of St. Albans, W. Va.; Michael Lawrence, of Winchester; Kenny and Penny Lawrence, of Winchester; Lt. Colonel Anthony O. and Tracy Lawrence, of Destin, Fla.; and Mark and Kelly Lawrence, of Harlan; two sisters: Jane Starkings and Liz Taylor, both of Caister-on-Sea, England; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Jenkinson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Joshua C. Hensley.

Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons with her granddaughters serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
