Jesse Mattie, of Wallins, passed away Wednesday February 13, 2008 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN at the age of 91.

Mr. Mattie was born Antonio Jose Mattei on October 16, 1916 to the Late John and Betty Mattei, of Sicily.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Opal Thomas Mattie.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Val Donna Sutton Mize and husband Howard Mize, Jr of Kingsport, TN, Elayne Sutton Powers and husband Clark Powers of Tazewell, TN, Barbara Vermillion, Joann Wormsley, Jewel McGhee, Gene Mattie, Hillard Mattie, Dillard Mattie and Paul Smith; a very special friend, Mary Daniel of Wallins, KY; great nieces include, Whitney Mize van der Biest and husband Eudoro of Kingsport, TN, Noelle Mize of Washington, D.C., Ashley Powers Lowe of Atlanta, GA and Erin Powers Kelber of Tampa, FL; grand-nieces include, Isabella and Sofia van der Biest, Kailey and Lauren Lowe and Kari Kelber; grand-nephew, Gabriel Kelber; he also leaves other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday February 16, 2008 at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY with Rev. Michael Daukis presiding.
