District court cases

The following cases have been heard in Harlan District Court, Judge Jeff Brock presiding.

Ryan Sergent, 18, third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, alcohol intoxication in a public place (first offense) — pleaded guilty, fined $125.

Tracy Saylor, 32, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/ drugs (second offense), driving on DUI-suspended license (first offense), failure to wear seat belt, use/possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense) — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set July 15.

Phillip Cox, 40, two counts of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (first offense), two counts of second-degree possession of a controlled substance/drug unspecified (first offense), controlled substance prescription not in an original container (first offense) — sentenced to 120 days in jail.

Kevin M. Dixon, 30, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance — waived to grand jury.

Brian Harris, 19, theft by failure to make required disposition of property (over $300) — dismissed.

Candi Pendleton, 18, third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor — pleaded guilty, fined $125.

Bryan D. Sergent, 20, third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, alcohol intoxication in a public place (first offense) — pleaded guilty, fined $125.

Traci L. Saylor, 32, failure to give or improper signal, expired or no registration plate, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seat belt, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (second offense), driving on DUI suspended operator’s license (first offense) — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set July 15.

Traci L. Saylor, 32, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (second offense), improper passing, following another vehicle too closely, speeding (16 miles per hour over the limit), reckless driving, driving on DUI-suspended license (first offense), failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security (first offense), failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seat belt, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt, expired or no registration plate, improper registration plate, improper display of registration plate, license plate not legible, refusal to submit to breath/blood/urine test — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set July 15.

Christy N. Turnbill, 22, theft of mail matter (over $300) — waived to grand jury.

Benjamin M. Middleton, 28, fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, no visible injury, alcohol intoxication in a public place (first offense), first-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) — pleaded guilty, sentenced to 12 months in jail (probated for 24 months) and fined $175.

Greg A. Cozort II, 29, two counts of theft by deception (under $300), theft by deception (over $300) — dismissed.

Elizabeth D. Griffin, 26, theft by unlawful taking (over $300) — amended to theft by deception under $300, ordered to pay restitution and sentenced to 12 months in jail.

Angela Nolan, 35, two counts of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, drug unspecified (first offense) — waived to grand jury.

Phillip L. Cox, 40, trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, controlled substance container not in original container (first offense) — first charge amended to controlled substance container not in original container (first offense), sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Titus Coots Sr., 52, two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, drug unspecified (first offense) — waived to grand jury.

Mary F. Abner, 22, tampering with physical evidence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (first offense), use/possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense), third-degree criminal mischief — first charge, amended to criminal attempt to tamper with physical evidence, pleaded guilty, fined $853 and sentenced to 12 months in jail (probated for 24 months) on the first three charges; other charge dismissed.

Jacqueline Skidmore, 24, theft by unlawful taking (over $300) — waived to grand jury.

Joshua R. Holden, 25, theft by unlawful taking (over $300), possession of marijuana, use/possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense), public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol) — waived to grand jury.

Paul E. Pruitt, 41, third-degree terroristic threatening — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set July 15.

Alonzo E. Turner, 64, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (first offense), use/possession drug paraphernalia (first offense) — preliminary hearing scheduled May 5.
