He was retired from the United States Navy and was an honorable Navy Seal. He was in charge of the recovery of the space shuttle disaster.
He will be missed by his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen Marie Gibson; his father, Arsh Clifton Gibson; his mother, Lois Gibson; two brothers: Aaron Douglas Gibson and William Clifton Gibson; and a brother-in-law, Jim Padgett.
His survivors include Eva Padgett and family, of South Carolina; Marie Proctor and family, of Virginia; Dianna Kelly and family, of South Carolina; Louise Wagner and family, of Ohio; and Dawn Wright and family, of Harlan.
A memorial service will be held on March 30 at 1 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home.
