Charity Angeline Carter loved her children, her garden, her home and her friends. To the end, she commented on clothes, enjoying at 99 matching outfits, having her hair done, eating her favorite food, “deluxe chocolate-covered graham crackers.”
A great storyteller, she could enthrall old and young alike for hours on end.
Charity Carter died in Atlanta on March 29, 2008, from complications of aging.
Charity lived in Loyall, Kentucky, “up Carter Holler,” with her husband, James L. Carter, and four children: Lois Carter Kelly, Micki Carter Marley, Norma Jo Carter Boggs and James E. Carter.
She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Charity attended Pine Mountain Settlement School and instilled in her children the significance of good friends, good diet, a college education, but most of all the importance of God. She taught them the Pine Mountain Settlement School blessing: Be our shepherd, O Lord, we entreat Thee, and may we receive all good things from Thy sweetness. Amen.
Graveside services will be held in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith on April 2, 2008 at 1 p.m.
