Phillip Dozier, the president of the Harlan Little League, said over 300 players will be taking part in the league this year with four divisions and 22 teams. Softball, for girls ages 9-12, returns this year with 60 girls participating on five teams.
“I’m tickled to death getting the softball program back,” Dozier said. “All six of our Little League teams will be very competitive, and we have a good group in the Minor League.
“We’re going to focus on teaching in the Rookie League. We want them to be ready for the Minor League program, and when they are 9 and go into the Little League program, they are capable of actually going out there and playing.”
Dozier says the league panorama will probably be held on April 26, beginning at 10 a.m. Each team will in the league will participate in one-inning scrimmages.
Regular season games begin Monday.
