Mr. Bowling was a former Treadway Brothers employee. He believed in the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed fishing. He faithfully served in the United States Army.
On June 12, 2000, he united in marriage with Dorothy Helton in Boyd County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Darrel Wayne Smith and a brother, Emerson Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bowling of Barbourville; two children, Elizabeth Buckland and husband, Tommy, of Norman, GA and Anna Bowling of Middlesboro; two stepchildren, Farmer Allen Gross Jr. and fiancé, Courtney Ross, of Lawrenceburg, IN and James Wayne Gross and fiancé, Wendy Craven, of Dillsboro, IN; a sister, Fay Johnson of Grants Lick; three brothers, Kenneth France of Barbourville, Billy Joe Bowling and wife, Ann, of Pineville and Michael Bowling and wife, Linda, of Wallins; 15 grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Deanna North of Barbourville; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the Liberty Pentecostal Church at Molus Friday, April 18 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Wayne Fugate and Rev. Carl Eldridge officiating. Mr. Bowling will be laid to rest in the Mathel Cemetery at Calloway with military funeral honors.
Casket bearers will be Brandon Bowling, Gary Brock, Allen Gross, James Gross, Timothy Bowling and Michael Bowling. Honorary bearers will be Edward Roark and Eldon North.
Friends may call at the church Thursday after 6 P.M. until the funeral hour.
