The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Monday at a residence in Sunshine and arrested five people.

Harlan County Sheriff Marvin Lipfird said his office received numerous complaints of alleged illegal drug activity at the residence of Winston Bynum.

Lipfird and his deputies, along with Harlan City Police Chief Frank Doan and his officers, arrested five people at Bynum’s residence. When the convoy of police officers arrived at the residence in Sunshine around 4 p.m., approximately 15 people were gathered in the carport area.

Bynum, 28, was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana and probation violation.

Bynum was arrested in February during a drug roundup on a charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance.

Also arrested at Bynum’s residence was Anita Bynum, 30, of Harlan. She was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Winston Carr, 58, of Harlan, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Chris Allen Jujuan McMillan, 18, of Harlan, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sherrod Phillips, 24, of Ages, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant.

Several members of the Harlan County Sheriff’s Chaplains Corps were on the scene to offer their assistance in case any children were at the residence.
