Mrs. Malva Brown Hurley, 93, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Closplint, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Riverpoint Nursing Home. A native of Closplint, she had lived here most of her life. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Closplint Church of God.

Mrs. Hurley was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Davis Hurley; her parents, Lavina Farley Brown and E.C. Brown; a brother, Paul Brown; and four sisters: Haley Brown, Goldie Kelly, Daisy Holcomb and Macy Peace.

Survivors include a son, E.C. Hurley and wife, Nancy, Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren: Michael Hurley, Charleston, SC; Mark Hurley, Minneapolis, MN; Andrea Jackson, Clarksville, TN; one great-grandson, Braiden Jackson, Clarksville, TN; a niece, Faye Brown, Harlan; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Arnold Martin officiating.

Burial will be in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
