Nearly 400 people are expected at the event. Residents from several states will be making their way to Harlan County to enjoy the festivities. North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Indiana are just a few of the states that will be represented during the weekend.
Steven Foster, who owns the campground in Putney, said this will be the biggest event they have had in the entire year. He said he is very happy that Putney will be getting some long needed exposure.
“Every time there is an outdoor event or something goes on, we usually don’t get much coverage on this side of the mountain. So it’s nice to get some coverage for these events on the Putney side. We are excited about this — there is going to be more trucks up here than probably any event we have had all year,” Foster said. “This is basically a Toyota event, but we got a few rock crawlers in the county who have Toyotas themselves.”
Touch of Country, a Cumberland restaurant, will be catering the event. Raffles will be going on throughout the weekend as a large amount of merchandise will be given away. There will be 10 trail leaders from TTORA that will be given guided rides to residents. Toyota will be sponsoring the event as the action will get under way on Friday and last all day Saturday as well.
