Guy Eugene Brewer, 68, of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, formerly of Harlan County, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 6, 2008, with family and friends by his side. Born June 26, 1940 at Cawood, KY, he was a former member of the UMWA and a coal miner at Mary Helen Coal Co. He served on the Board of Directors for the Sharps Chapel volunteer fire department.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey and Bertha Irvin Brewer; and a brother, Hiriam C. Brewer.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loretta Lawson Brewer, Sharps Chapel; two sons, Mitch Brewer and wife, Tammy; Terry Brewer and wife, Brenda, all of Sharps Chapel; four brothers, Wilse Brewer and wife, Etta, Dayhoit; Charlie Brewer and wife, Geneva, Cawood; Jack Brewer and wife, Larvena, Harlan; Herb Brewer and wife, Linda, Cawood. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Terry II, Brittany, Sheena, Stone, Samantha and Cody; sisters-in-law, Goldie, Shirley, Violet, Daily and Peggy; a brother-in-law, Bill Lawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6 until 8 pm at the Claiborne Funeral Home and Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 pm at the Blackstar Pentecostal Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at the Blackstar Pentecostal Church with the Rev. J.C. Craig and Rev. Dewell Perry officiating. Music will be provided by the Blackstar Pentecostal Church Choir.

Burial will follow in the Saylor Cemetery at Pathfork. Pallbearers will be Thomas Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Johnny Jackson, Charles Ray Brewer, Andy Brewer and Lemuel Johnson. The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
