George William Tye, of The Villages, Fla., 79, died October 20, 2008.

Mr. Tye was born in Young Creek and moved to The Villages from Nashville, Tenn., in 1999. He was a retired United States Air Force Major; a psychologist in private practice; attended New Covenant United Methodist Church; a member of American Blind and Disabled Golf Association; Retired Military Group; Paul Harris Fellow and past member of Rotary International; Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity; life member of Disabled American Veterans; Kentucky Konnection Club; life member of the Blinded Veterans Association; Retired Officers Association and National Sojourners. His hobbies were golfing, woodworking, fishing, traveling and participating in International Blind Golf Tournaments.

Survivors include his wife, Irene, of The Villages, Fla.; son, Thomas, of San Diego, Ca.; daughters, Deborah Carpenter, of Berea; Leslie Hall, of Ashville, Oh.; sisters, Micki Yeary, of Tazwell, Tenn.; Virginia Reeves, of Andersonville, Tenn.; Sylvia Sadler, of Clinton, Tenn.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
