A resident of Cumberland, Stagnolia, who has forged successful careers as an educator and banker, was elected to the post during the board’s October meeting.
Jennifer L. Jones, a former Bell County judge-executive, was selected to serve as vice chairman.
Stagnolia will head the nine-member board which oversees the operation of SKCTC. The college boasts an enrollment of 4,900 students at five full-campus sites in Harlan, Bell and Letcher counties.
He is a former educator who devoted 33 years while working in the Lynch Independent School System and the Harlan County School System. For the past 20 years, he has worked in the banking industry. He currently serves as a vice-president and branch manager for Commercial Bank.
The board of directors convenes quarterly and includes Stagnolia, Helen Smith, Sandy Hogg, Abe Bailey, Jennifer Jones, Robert W. Vaughn, faculty representative Madeline Gibson, staff representative Leslie Carmack and student representative Justin Pettypiece.
