An Enterprise Staff Report

The Cumberland Redskins improved to 8-1 on the season with an 11-1 victory over New Harlan in middle school baseball action on Wednesday.

Will Scott had one strikeout in 2.2 innings to claim the win in the start. Hunter Nease struck out one batter in 2.1 innings of relief.

Cody Brewer suffered the loss on the mound for the Patriots.

Cameron Nease and Aaron Lewis led the Redskins at the plate with two singles each. Hunter Nease recorded a double, and Scott, Dylan Cornett, Josh Lee, Brendan Rutherford and Sean Johnson each added a single.

Sherman Ward and Rhett Alred each had a single for New Harlan.

Cumberland dropped its first game of the season Monday as the Redskins fell 8-5 to Middlesboro.

The Redskins were limited to three hits. Caleb Hogue had a double and single. Lewis added a single.

Rutherford started on the mound for the Redskins and struck out four in five innings. Cameron Nease struck out two in two innings.
