Shirley Ann Cope, age 77, of Benham passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Harlan ARH Hospital. She was born to the late John Mack and Elsie Elizabeth Arnold Cope on June 3, 1935 in Benham. She was employed for 31 years as a teacher in the Harlan County School System. Shirley attended the Benham Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Cope, Ralph Cope, James (Bud) Cope, Robert Cope, Cecil Cope, and Charles (Chunk) Cope; and her sisters, Mary Saylor, Margaret June Cole, Sue Ella Brown and Thelma Cope.

Shirley will be missed by family and friends who loved her.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham between 11 am – 1 pm. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm in the Benham Cemetery with the Reverend Rick Cope officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
