Staff Report

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office responded to an anonymous tip Monday that was called into the sheriff’s office Drug Tip Line.

It was reported that several marijuana plants were growing in buckets along the creek bank in the Dartmont area of Evarts. Sheriff Marvin Lipfird and deputies Matt Cope, Travis Freeman and James Davis responded to the area and searched the creek bank.

Upon searching the area near the park, several marijuana plants were located and seized by the sheriff’s office. The investigation into determining whose plants they are is continuing by the sheriff’s office.

This is the second marijuana patch raided by the sheriff’s office this week. Sgt. Miron Southerland and deputies Chris Brewer and Freeman confiscated several plants on Saturday at Putney.

If you have information on drug activity, anonymous tips may be made to the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office Drug Tip Line at 606-574-9800.
