Mildred Jean Clem of Putney passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital with family by her side. Mildred was born on Wednesday, February 6, 1929 unto the union of her parents C.B. Bird and Nollie Jane Garrison Bird. She was 83 years old. She was formerly employed in the House Keeping Department of Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Murph Clem Sr. and 14 siblings.

She is survived by: her children: Murph Clem Jr. and his wife, Terri of Westland, MI; Anna Joyce Creech and husband, Glynn of Sumter, SC; and Darrell Clem of Livonia, MI. Her granddaughters: Karen Creech and Melanie Connor and one great-granddaughter, Madisyn Whitt. Also surviving are her brothers: Ray Bird of Oven Fork, KY and Joe Bird of Michigan. A host of family and friends also mourn the loss of Mildred.

Funeral services for Mildred will be conducted on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Rich Funeral home with Reverend Dillard Stanley officiating. Visitation for Mildred will be held on Saturday from 5:00 pm until the funeral hour.

Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Howard Cemetery in Rosspoint. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
