Johnie Belle Vick, 77, Verda, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. She was born January 1, 1935 in Harlan County and had lived here all of her life. Johnnie was a homemaker and believed in the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Vick and Mattie Kyle Vick; one grandson, Harry Hopkins, Jr.; three brothers, Eddie Vick, Charles Vick and Lawrence Vick; four sisters, Geneva Vick, Anna Ray Harris, Elizabeth Phillips and Betty Ballinger.

Survivors include four children, Shelia Vick, Larry Vick and Denise Vick, all of Verda; and Latonya Vick of Black Mountain; one sister, Shirley Henderson, Coxton; 11 grandchildren, Felicia Hopkins, Kimilia Hopkins, Marco Hopkins, Kadedra Vick, Tayquan Vick, Brianna Vick, Ashley Dean, Kassandra Vick, Lawrence Vick, Lateisha Thomas and Tanilla Laxton; two special friends, Dallas Carr and Luther Cottrell. Also surviving is a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 12 pm until 1 pm at the New Hope Church of God. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm with Reverend Darryl Washington officiating.

Burial will be in Evarts Memorial Gardens with nephews and family serving as pallbearers.
