John R. Bowyer, age 74 of Cumberland passed away at his residence on Friday, July 20, 2012. He was born to the late John and Flora Bell Cloyd Bowyer on November 4, 1937. He was a Church of Christ minister and member of the Creech Avenue Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John R. Bowyer, Jr. and a sister, Betty Bowyer Morris.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife, Norma Gibson Bowyer of Cumberland; daughter, Paula Bowyer of Cumberland; brother, Charles (Lisa) Bowyer of Albuquerque, NM; niece, Kimberly Morris of Albuquerque, NM; nephew, David Morris of Albuquerque, NM; and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends between 6 – 9 pm on Monday, July 23, 2012, in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 11 am with Billy Burke and Jeff Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland.

Pallbearers will be Hal Woods, RB Browning, Don Gibbs, Terry Tinsley, George Massey and Johnnie Foster.
