Ivan Jewel Harrison, 70, of Baxter passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard. He was a native of Harlan County. Ivan worked as Deputy Jailer at the Harlan County Detention Center and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country in the Vietnam War. Ivan was also a member of the Harlan Honor Guard and Harlan Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. Harrison and Ida Mae Rainey Harrison; one brother, John Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Saylor Myers Harrison, Baxter; three children, Joy Harrison Daniels and fiancé, Billy Dean, Jr., Baxter; John Myers and wife, Rebecca, Baxter and Ewel Myers and wife, Ann, Baxter; three brothers, Donnie Harrison and wife, Sandra, Ages; Ike Harrison, Ages; J.C. Harrison and wife, Lou, Illinois; three sisters, Darlene Couch and husband, Lonnie, Ages; Droth Hendrix and husband, Rufus, Ages and Minnie Brogan and husband, Jimmy, North Carolina; and former daughter-in-law, Laquatta Bryant. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, James Scott Myers, Rhiannon Myers, Trevor Myers, Jonathan Harrison, Mara Hope Taylor, Keri Elizabeth Stevens, Brittany Daniels, J.W. Daniels, Gabrielle Rhenboug; six, his special babies, great-grandchildren, Cody Myers, Carrie Beth Barrett, Natalee Rae Taylor, Jonathan Matthew Harrison, Jr., Hunter Cale Stevens, Ivan Harrison, and two special arrivals, one due in December, 2012 and the other due in March, 2013.

Also surviving are special friends, Bill and Margaret Dean, his special family at Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center and the Harlan Honor Guard; also a host of nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers, Billy Dean, Jr., Scott Myers, Trevor Myers, Jonathan Harrison, J.W. Daniels, Matthew Taylor, Tim Stevens and Larry Williamson.

Harlan Honor Guard will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home with Reverend John Lundy officiating.

Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Harlan Honor Guard.
