Floyd Lee Hamby, 83, of Evarts, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2012, at the Harlan App. Regional Hospital following a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Evarts, he was a former coal miner, coal truck driver and auto mechanic. Floyd enjoyed hunting and dearly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vina Cloud Hamby; his mother, Gertie Eads Hamby; his father, Vester Hamby; and a sister, Ruby Hamby Burns.

Survivors include two children, Lydia Dykes and husband, Orell, Verda; John Hamby, Evarts; a granddaughter, Michelle Dykes-Anderson and husband, Sam; and a niece and nephew that he was very close to, Bonnie Burns Howard and Gary Burns, both of Sidney, Ohio.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 until 9 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 30, 2012, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend John Luttrell and Marjorie Grieshop officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
