The Harlan County Lady Bears fell 26-28, 22-25 to visiting Leslie County in volleyball action on Thursday.

Whitney Stevens had one dig, two spikes, one ace and one point to lead Harlan County (1-1) in the first set. Breanna Dunson recorded one tip, one spike and three points. Rebecca Eldridge contributed one ace and three points. Chyanna Harris tallied one ace and two points. Keisha Mimes had two tips, and Cara Middleton added one point.

Dunson had one tip, one block, one spike and two points to power the Lady Bears in the second set. Mimes and Middleton each contributed one tip, one dig and three points. Harris recorded one kill and three points, while Stevens and Eldridge had two points.

The Lady Bears captured the first set 21-8, but fell 13-21, 7-15 in the final two and fell to Leslie County in the junior varsity contest.

Brittany Clem had five points, two tips, two digs and one block to pace Harlan County in the three sets. Katelyn Reynolds added seven points, three spikes and one kill. Lauren Lee had five points, three tips and a spike. Charleigh Mefford recorded six points, one spike and a dig. Tarolyn Burkharttallied four points and one kill. Candice Huff contributed four points. Sabrina Simpson had two digs and a point. Sasha Simpson recorded one dig and one point, and Megan Cornett added two digs.

Harlan County returns to action Tuesday at Knox Central.
