Jack W. Prewitt, age 62, of Putney, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 29, 1949 to the late William and Mabel Barton Prewitt in Benham, KY. Jack attended the Lynch Church of God where he served as a deacon. He provided for his family by working as a coal miner for 14 years.

Jack was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Despite his handicap, he never let this prevent him from enjoying life. He will always be remembered for his wit and keen sense of humor. Jack’s hobbies included being a photographer of his family and Kentucky nature and watching Nascar racing.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by an infant son and by an infant brother, Jackie Harvel Prewitt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Donna Orick Prewitt; he is the proud father of a daughter, Melissa Forester and husband, Joe, of Lexington; the loving grandfather of Hunter and Dakota Forester of Lexington; a loving brother to Billy and Janett Prewitt of Arkansas, Margie and Tom Ash of Illinois, Charles and Rosetta Prewitt of Corbin, KY, Pat and Joe Czaplicki of Illinois, Truman and Patricia Prewitt of Illinois, and Sue Loyd of Illinois; and a host of family and friends who loved him.

Jack has run his race and finished his course and now we celebrate his going home with visitation being held on Thursday, August 16, 2012, between 6 – 8:30 pm in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home. A celebration service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012, at 1 PM in the chapel with the Reverend Marshall Raney and Brandon Howard officiating.
